Minerals Species: Uvarovite Garnet.
Location of mineral deposit: Saranovskoye Mine, Sarany, Permskaya Oblast', Ural Mountains, Russia. (Type Locality for Uvarovite) Click here to see other minerals from Type localities.
Description: Flat plate almost completely covered on one face with sparkling vivid green uvarovite microcrystals. The uvarovite garnet formed in thin veins that are opened to expose the garnets. The garnetless patch in the center is where the vein pinched closed. No damage is visible to the unaided eye, minute edge chipping is visible under 20x magnification.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 8.5x6x1 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 0.2-3.5 mm.
Price: $250 (plus shipping).
