Minerals Species: Beryl var. Emerald.
Location of mineral deposit: Mount Dayakou tungsten mine, 6 km northeast of Mengdong village, Malipo County, Yunnan Province, China.
Description: Rich cluster of elongated translucent deep-green emerald crystals, the green variety of beryl, in limonite-stained quartz. There are at least 13 emerald crystals exposed all around the sides of the specimen with more showing embedded in the quartz ends. Though the crystals are clean and in good condition, a few show damage upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 14x10x5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 2-11 cm.
