Minerals Species: Hematite var. Kidney Ore.
Location of mineral deposit: Montreal Mine, Gogebic Iron Range, Iron County, Wisconsin.
Description: Layered formation of metallic hematite with botryoidal surfaces on the termination. The botryoidal brown hematite was called Kidney Ore by the miners. This old mine closed pre-1967. No damage.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 9.5x6x5 cm.
Size of individual crystals: 1-30 mm.
