Detailed information on mineral specimen No. 49922:

Minerals Species: Elbaite var. Watermelon Tourmaline.
Location of mineral deposit: Dunton Quarry, Plumbago Mountain, Hall's Ridge, Newry, Oxford County, Maine.
Description: Terminated elbaite tourmaline crystal from the famous 1972 discovery. The elbaite crystal has a green outer rind with bright pink core zone, hence the name Watermelon Tourmaline. The bottom was sawn and polished to highlight the internal color zoning. Though the crystals are clean and in good condition, a few show damage upon close inspection, but they are minor compared to the relative size of the specimen. Ex. John H. Marshall (1931-2008) collection.
Overall size of mineral specimen: 34x30x25 mm.
Size of individual crystals: 34 mm.
Price: $2000 net (plus shipping).
